In season one, episode one, I draw three overlapping circles, like the Olympic rings. The first circle in the top left is trust. The top right circle is professional. And the bottom circle is empathy. Someone who sits in that overlap between trust and empathy makes a really good friend. The overlap between trust and professional does really good transactional work, like getting your car fixed or prepping legal documents, and there is no need for empathy on that one. However, you do need someone who you can trust, who is a professional. Someone who is professional and empathetic is a really good salesperson as they can appeal to your emotion. If you do not trust them, however, they could always sell you something that you do not need. You want to keep these factors in mind with a healthy air of skepticism.

Therefore, if you have that friend who is a professional, someone you can trust, and someone who has empathy, you find yourself where all three circles overlap the sweet spot. What is that sweet spot? It is the coming together of the three factors of high-quality relationships. Thank you for following along to Episode 1 of the first season of BlankScreen.
